Banner Review

What I had to do was blend in three of the intaglio pictures I had created in order to create my banner I had difficulties due to smudging my work accidentally while trying to choose a color.

Eventually I made the banner and what came out I wasn't 100% happy with but still turned out to be a valuable piece of work which really helped on my progress. What I should do better next time is to try and understand where all the tools on the program are, as well as figuring out how to work things out in a working situation. That way I can get better at using the techniques in photoshop.

Print Workshop

Last week, we were shown all there was to know about mono and relief printing. The process for mono printing involved us, using ink for the matter. As well as tracing the following on a blank piece of paper before rolling it using a pressing machine to print the image out onto the paper.

As for the relief printing process, we used different pieces of material to print using ink. As well as a printer which we used to print the texture onto the piece of blank paper we were using.

Traditional Printing Processes

Intaglio printing

Intaglio printing is a printmaking technique in which the image is incised onto the surface, which is usually known as a matrix or a plate. Normally copper or zinc plates are used, and incisions are created by etching or engraving. To begin print ink is applied to the surface and then rubbed with a tarlatan cloth to remove some of the excess of the liquid. The final smooth wipe is often done with a newspaper leaving ink only in the incisions.

Finally a damp piece of paper is placed on top and both materials are run through a printing press that transfers the ink from the recesses of the plate to paper.

Intaglio Printing was invented in Germany during the 1430s, well after the woodcut print. Goldsmiths had used engraving to decorate metalwork such as knight’s armour and religious objects since the ancient times, as well as the niello technique, which involved rubbing alloy into the lines to give a contrasting colour. It has been suggested that goldsmiths began to print impressions of their work to record their design, and that printmaking developed from that.

Relief Printing

Relief printing is an image created by a printmaking process, where the areas of the matrix are on the original surface. The parts of the matrix that are ink free are otherwise removed. Printing the image is therefore a relatively simple matter or bringing it into firm contact with the paper.

Ways to use an RSS feed

For those of you who want to have news of any topic sent to your Google reader, I will tell you since I am now using a reader. It is called an RSS feed, in order to use one for your reader you will need to find a website or a subscription that gives you news on stuff that are happening in industries and around the world. Once you have a web address copy it, then go into your Google reader and click on add a subscription. Immediately a search engine will appear, after which you will need to paste your web address to the search engine with an Http:// attached.

Next you will need to click add, depending on how lucky you are the news feed should appear on your profile. Once it does it will have various different news stories and articles on the feed, this is all the information I can provide so good luck and I hope you can make the most of what I have just told you. If you are stuck go to this post again to read the instructions, but until then like I said just make the most of it for your self.

 What Is An Email?

An email is a message you send via cyberspace to a friend or family member, it can be done on many different email sites such as: AOL, Hot Mail, Google Mail and Gmail. Think of it like sending a letter via your computer to your friends network. Here are the terms that you will need to learn when you are sending messages on your computer. BC and CC. The term CC indicates secondary recipients of a message for those who are to receive a copy of the message. BCC refers to the term of sending emails to multiple recipients in a way that it conceals all email addresses.

By then the video will be available on your blog for your viewing pleasure.

As for how to upload an image, you will need to find a save photo in one of your folders. To do so click on insert image and go to browse to choose from one of your folders. once you have your photo click the ok button with your mouse and it should appear under some of the text you have written.

One of the examples of the embed video is the trailer of The Matrix (1999) and for those of you who haven't seen it. Check it out it's an awesome film. As for the photo bit I haven't uploaded one yet, but I will once I have time to do so.

Here is a video of one of my favourite musicians of classic rock.

About Myself

My name is Max Kennedy. I am an eighteen year old student at City Of Bath college, and it is my first time here as a blogger. I was born on August 2nd 1992 in London, England to an American father and an Irish mother. I am currently in my National Diploma of the media course, but I hope to work hard so I can attend a university in the United States.

I am a huge fan of Films, I mostly collect films I have never seen onto DVD and also go frequently to the cinema to see the latest releases. I also read Empire Magazine and use imdb.com to check out the latest news on upcoming films as well as the film industry in general. Depending on which path I take I hope to become either a filmmaker or a film critic.

Here is a trailer for a film which I really like:

Now that you have gotten to know me, I hope to post some more posts on my current status as well as opinions of the films I have just seen.
